On 23rd June 2022, the EO4SMB consortium presented results from the study at ESA’s webinar on Space for a Greener Maritime Future. The cross-disciplinary webinar explored how ESA space-based technology solutions can support the green transition in the maritime sector. The wide-ranging webinar, which was chaired by Isabelle Duvaux-Bechon, Head of the Strategy and Development Office (DG-5A) Foresight, Strategy and Coordination Department, DG Services, explored a number of topics related to the role that space sector R&D can play in facilitating the green transition. These topics included Arctic ice melt, weather forecasting, ports of the future and plastic monitoring. The EO4SMB project presented recent results, showing how the latest generation of ESA satellites can be used to monitor freshwater input into the Arctic Ocean.
